Annete Sagal

A multidisciplinary Ukrainian artist, certified art therapist, and art curator, she is best known for her work with collage. Born in Kyiv, she combined her education in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy (Kraków, 2018) with a passion for visual art and therapy. Sagal has started the collage culture movement in Ukraine by founding Kyiv Collage Collective (2021), co-founding and curating the CUTOUT COLLAGE Art Project (2021), as well as starting the creative educational platform Kyiv Collage School (2023). She organized 50+ international collage art exhibitions in Ukraine and Europe. Sagal is also a member of the Ukrainian Art Therapy Association and uses art as a universal therapeutic tool.

 

She has completed several creative courses at MoMa, University of Florida, Institute of the Higher Psychology and Body Therapy, The University of Adelaide, Kyiv Art College. In 2025, Sagal completed a grant opportunity by creating a series of free online collage workshops, becoming a House of Europe alumni.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Як мисткиня та особистість, я прагну до рівності, стабільності та сталого життя.


Переживаючи виклики життя у часи війни, я відчуваю потребу захистити та показати себе як мисткиню і робити те саме для української культури та митців як кураторка. Я вважаю себе посолкою української культури, зокрема колажного мистецтва. Творити мистецтво – це, по-перше, розмова з самою собою. Я слухаю, вчуся, домовляюся зі своєю внутрішньою дитиною, і разом ми співпрацюємо, щоб створити твір мистецтва у формі колажу, фотографії, віршу або навіть чуттєвого змішання двох треків.


Я працюю з проблематикою чутливості, прав людини, несправедливості, фемінізму, а також доброї та прекрасної сторони життя. Ми живемо в невизначений час, і я вірю, що Мистецтво – це заняття, яке врятує молоде покоління.
