IRYNA KUDRIASHOVA

Resident of CUTOUT COLLAGE ART PROJECT: January 2025 - Today

Iryna Kudriashova was born in Kaniv, Cherkasy region, into a family with no connection to art. She showed no interest in art during her school years, and after graduating from high school, she entered the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, where she received a degree in laser and optoelectronic engineering. However, after three months of work, she realized that military optics was not her path.

A coincidence of circumstances led Iryna to the advertising industry, where she fell in love with marketing. Over the next 20 years, she worked as a marketer for educational projects, headed marketing departments at higher education institutions, a business school, an online school for women, and a retraining center for psychologists and psychotherapists.

She became interested in art in 2012 after attending the First Kyiv Biennial of Contemporary Art. Over the next decade, she enthusiastically attended exhibitions both in Ukraine and abroad. In 2023, together with the artist Kulana Svitlynych, she realized the project “My Language - My Wings,” which popularized the visual identity of the Ukrainian language. The project's works were presented at exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad: linocuts, wall paintings, ornamental compositions, interactive installations, digital projects, and fashion design.

In 2024, she met Katya Syta at an exhibition of Ukrainian collage in Berlin. This event made a deep impression, after which she began studying collage techniques at Katia Sita's course. Less than six months later, her first work was presented at a collective exhibition in Kyiv, and in 2025 she became a CUTOUT resident.

Now she is exploring the inner world of a woman/self who is left alone in the conditions of war - physically and/or emotionally. The project emphasizes loneliness as a forced isolation and encourages open discussion of loneliness, which will help to create a culture of support and empathy. He also participates in the “For the Sake of a Letter” exhibitions to draw the attention of Europeans and make it possible for Ukrainian prisoners to correspond. The opportunity to receive news from relatives is not just words on paper, but an important support that helps to keep hope and strength of mind in the most difficult moments.

ARTWORKS

In my works, I play with the moment - I capture myself here and now, a unique combination of circumstances, feelings, emotions and thoughts that will never happen again. This is my game of self-discovery in a world that is constantly changing. At this moment, I am curious, relaxed and open to new things.

And I invite the viewer to this game! To stop for a moment, to escape from the everyday whirlwind and allow yourself something unexpected. Become a part of the game, bringing your own emotions and experience, creating a new meaning and unique interaction every time.

In my analog collages I use magazines, newspapers, prints, as well as watercolors, acrylics, and pastels. I add natural materials, fabric and threads to create an interesting combination of textures.
