"More than Houses"
22.11-22.12.2024 | "Iide Dakh" art space
About the event
"More than Houses" is an exhibition of contemporary collage about background historical architecture, in background historical architecture. In this project, 23 Ukrainian artists explore the background historical buildings of Kyiv through collage in traditional and unconventional forms.
Why background architecture?
It is the basis of the general appearance of the city, the background of architectural monuments and urban planning. Such buildings allow us to look into the past and see what Kyiv was like before: where the old streets ran, who settled on them, whether the quarter was residential or commercial. From the building materials, layout, style, and decoration of such buildings, one can understand what life was like not only for prominent figures, but also for ordinary citizens who also created the history of Kyiv and all of Ukraine.
We want to show the background architecture of Kyiv from an unusual angle, reveal its unobvious importance, and call for the appreciation and preservation of such buildings.
This exhibition is a joint work of the NGO Spadshchyna, artist Olena Morozova, the art project CUTOUT, and the #MyMinistryofCulture community.
Exhibition curator: Katya Syta.
