PAWLO DUBININ
Resident of CUTOUT COLLAGE ART PROJECT: March 2024 - Today
Born in 2002, Pawlo is a young artist and painter from Sumy, Ukraine. From a young age, he was interested in humanities, wrote and painted. In 2023, he graduated from the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theater, Cinema and Television University with a bachelor's degree in film directing. Mostly lives in Kyiv.
Since 2021, he has been creating music album covers for various Ukrainian artists, such as Re-read, Anton Malinovskiy, Ukrainian Indie for Independence.
In March-April 2023, participated in the Queer Station residency by Biblioteka Azyl in Lublin, Poland. Since March 2024, he has been a resident of the Ukrainian art project CUTOUT COLLAGE.
In April 2023, the artist’s debut solo exhibition "I was bewitched as a child" took place at Galeria Labirynt in Lublin, Poland.

ARTWORKS
I mostly paint and create collages from everything I can find.
I like to explore my garden and the street in the Sumy town where I grew up: stones, wires, wormwood and herbs, rusty spoons, plasters. Each work is an endless experiment and search for a form that goes hand in hand with the content. The guiding idea of my work is an honest, deep and individual depiction of feelings, images and moments, maximalist or ephemeral. I believe that art is important, first of all, as a reflection of the individual personality and the miracle of its uniqueness, which ultimately unites us all.
I am interested in human and metaphysical manifestations of the world and attempts to understand them, and if it is not possible - to record and preserve at least. Adolescence, body image, magic, occultism, nature, death and motherhood are the themes closest to the skin. I really appreciate being able to share my soul with others so they can feel visible and less alone. I want to tell stories, give my all to the world and take whatever I want.
